Sep 23, 2015To cut a 60 degree angle( from vertical or 30 degree from horizontal) you can nod the head to 30 degrees down and then cut on the front side of a part clamped to the table but you will be cutting on the end of the milling cutter. In this case, a face cutter will do it better than an end mill. Still need to plan your cut to avoid cutting the table

Jun 05, 2007Well, correct blade bevel angle is a bit of a tough one with a #4. In a bench plane like this the bevel is down so the bevel angle has no bearing on the cutting angle. The iron angle is 45 degrees with that plane. So, I tend to use a 30 degree bevel with about a 3 5 degree microbevel to make honing easier and faster.

Id recommend laying this out with scrap cardboard or something quick and easy to make sure youre right.
